Soya Life and Lifestyle Disease Benefits
The Soya Life Team has shared with you many of the numerous benefits SOYA has, as a SUPERFOOD, both in the prevention of and in the treatment of lifestyle diseases.
A Superfood or Functional Food can be defined as:
“a food used to increase / improve health; and contributes to reducing the disease burden”
Soy beans have many components, all with proven benefits to human health, and as such “reduce the disease burden” when used consistently.
Many soya products exist today, and it is important that consumers are aware of these products, their health advantages, and how to incorporate them regularly into their weekly and daily menus.
Refer to our website articles, blogs and newsletters to find valuable information on the role of SOYA in the diets of our general population:
We have covered various lifestyle stages: KIDS, TEENS, MEN’S AND WOMEN’S HEALTH;
And we have covered lifestyle diseases, including inter alia, DIABETES, HEART DISEASE, HYPERTENSION, NON-ALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE;
And we have also explored the scientific literature detailing the role of soya in the dietary treatments of conditions such as ADHD, FOOD ALLERGIES, KIDNEY CONDITIONS AND COLON DISORDERS.
The fundamental basic message has come across that soya products play an important role in DAILY DIETS of most people.
Furthermore, a special review published in Nutrition Reviews 2009, covers in detail the potential mechanisms whereby soybeans exert their protective effects against heart disease, cancer, and osteoporosis.
Of particular interest in this scientific review is the research conducted regarding soy isoflavones AND ALSO protein peptides found in the soy bean, illustrating that soy beans as a whole have health protective benefits.
From this review, one realises that some evidence supports a role for the isoflavones contained in soybeans and many soy foods, while other evidence supports certain peptides or peptide fractions derived from soy. In addition to this, soy foods also contain other bioactive components that could exert beneficial effects: the cholesterol-lowering effects of soluble fiber and phytosterols; the anti-carcinogenic potential of saponins, phytic acid, Bowman-Birk inhibitor, and lecithin; and the cardioprotective effects of omega-3 fatty acids. Furthermore, these components may have synergistic effects.
This Table gives a very condensed summary of some of the health benefits derived from soya products:
| RICH IN | HEALTH BENEFITS |

| COMPLETE PROTEIN | Vegetarians AND Non-vegetarians |
